BEACH FOSSILS “Youth” MP3

Beach Fossils by Victoria Jacob

I’ve been seeing a lot of summer-tinged and or beach referenced music coming out lately and oddly some coming out of New York. Let’s see there’s Beach House with their name and then there’s MGMT’s cover for their new album Congratulations.  There have been songs related to surfing and the sun.  But I’ve been avoiding most of this noise.  The whole “Brooklyn sound” just seems to sound like mumbled waves in my ears. But I took the time to listen to Beach Fossils’ “Youth” from their upcoming album self-titled album and was quite surprised.  The lo-fi jangle of the guitars made images of sailing on a small sail boat off the coast of south Florida with the sun setting over the sea.  I’m curious to hear more.  Their album will be released May 25th, 2010 on Captured Tracks (a Brooklyn label that seems to finding some gems).
