FEVER RAY "The Wolf" STREAM

Fever Ray

Well, if Lykke Li can be on the Twilight soundtrack why can’t Fever Ray be on the Little Red Riding. The track “The Wolf” perfectly paints an eerie landscape and atmosphere that would fit Little Red Riding’s plot.

SILVER SWANS "Secrets" (Number Stations Mix) (By Christopher Moll of The Postmarks) MP3

Silver Swans photo by Lee Mi-wah

Re-imagined by Christopher Moll of The Postmarks, the original song “Secrets” carried a beautiful and subtle charming light that is turned towards another direction. The subdued bass and floating strumming is exchanged for fuzz reminiscent of souls lost in the void of radio airwaves. The drumming is a mourning beat that leads the saddening lyrics sung by Ann Yu along a lake of despair. So even though the darkening of “Secrets” is quite depressing, the remix is a beautiful journey digging deep into the souls, hearts and secrets of brooding relationships.

LYKKE LI "I Follow Rivers" MP3 + LIVE ACOUSTIC VIDEO

Lykke Li

Lykke Li performed her brooding single “I Follow Rivers” at the Last Tuesday Society in East London for The Line of Best Fit. Usually an acoustic version may lose some elements or change the direction of a song in some way. But the vibe of the song translates perfectly in this live session. Lykke Li’s voice is just as alluring as the album version.

ICONA POP "Manners" MP3

Icona Pop

Stockholm, Sweden + Duo = For The Win! Well, most of the time. But Sweden’s Icona Pop follows the trend of duos out gunning the trios, quadruplets, quintuplets, sextuplets and so on. Maybe it makes producing great pop music much more cohesive. But with Patrick Berger who produced Robyn’s “Dancing On My Own” helped the duo produce a track so ramshackling in “Manners.” Floating around some time last year, the single jolts you with a hard beat and powerful chorus. A combination of an anthemic punk chorus and electronic blips and beats swirling the song postures the duo for strong debut full-length.

As a part of the Neon Gold Records collective, the duo is sure to make a splash here in the states. Their debut show will be this Thursday (March 3rd, 2011) at the Neon Gold Records PopShop in the Lower East Side. If names such as Passion Pit, Ellie Goulding, Monarchy and Penguin Prison sound familiar to you, well Icona Pop might as well be added to that list.
