I BREAK HORSES "Winter Beats" MP3

I Break Horses

Winter is still a ways away, but Swedish duo I Break Horses has written a sweet candy track in “Winter Beats.” The beautiful singing synths and keys does make me long for winter. I know there aren’t too many fans of winter here in New York. But the cold just brings this whole nostalgia I had of winter growing up in Miami. Snow, coats, jackets and those lights. But for now I’ll have to contend with the remaining days of summer. If you dig shimmery music blended with hazy shoegaze you’ll dig this track. It will appear on their new album Hearts out August 22nd, 2011 via Bella Union.

JENS LEKMAN "An Argument With Myself" MP3

Jens Lekman

New news from Jens Lekman is always good news. It’s almost been four years since his grand opus of a record Night Falls Over Kortedala was released. The album was one of my most favorite albums of the year.

The Swedish crooner’s new single “An Argument With Myself” I admit didn’t quite “blow me out of the water.” But the song is still fresh with a tempo that’s much more upbeat than the sad songs and ballads that were on his previous album. And just like previous songs the style meshes all over the place. The new track at times almost has a very Caribbean taste to it. Not exactly Vampire Weekend, but the song is still quite fun and makes me excited to hear the rest of the An Argument With Myself EP. It’s going to be released September 20th, 2011 via Secretly Canadian.

AIR FRANCE “It Feels Good To be Around You” MP3

Air France

Remember when Swedish music was all the rage? We still have artists such as Lykke Li and Nicki & The Dove making names for themselves. But it’s nowhere near what it was over five years ago. So many Swedish Indie Pop bands were being named the next best this and the next best that. And although Air France’s sultry chilled-out music doesn’t really recall the indie pop madness, it’s still quite noteworthy.

Maybe a little bit more similar to brethren The Tough Alliance, their new song “It Feels Good To Be Around You” is a soothing and soulful track full of cut up beats and dance elements. It also happen to have been mixed by Star Slinger. The track may be featured on their upcoming full-length. Stay tuned! This is definitely some sweet stuff from the duo.

ACID HOUSE KINGS “Would You Say Stop?” (Invisible Twin Remix) MP3

Acid House Kings

Who knew that indie pop or twee can be that dark? But that didn’t stop Detroit, Michigan’s Invisible Twin turning Sweden’s pop kings’ new single “Would You Say Stop?” into a moody new wave track ala Depeche Mode or OMD. The original track by Acid House Kings was a glorious return to form. Julia Lannerheim’s vocals whisks you away on a fun filled pop dance. But in this remix, she croons you into a mellow and somber mood. Invisible Twin did an amazing job on this remix. If you heard this first you wouldn’t even have realized that there was another version.

Be on the look out for Invisible Twin’s new album coming in the future as they are working on it now.
