CHAIRLIFT “Amanaemonesia” STREAM

Chairlift

I honestly haven’t listened to Chairlift since their “Bruises” single blew up. Since then I didn’t even know they broke up and came back. But regardless their new single “Amanaemonesia” is one hell of a solid comeback of sorts. Prior to releasing their next album on Columbia Records, Chairlift will be releasing this single on a 7″ Chris Taylor’s (producer of Grizzly Bear, Dirty Projectors, Twin Shadow, Department of Eagles, etc.) label Terrible Records. The song is a mixture of dark eighties synth vibes and a crazy catchy chorus sung by Caroline. If they had gone, well now they’re back. The new single will be released August 16th, 2011.

JAMIE LIDELL “The Ring” MUSIC VIDEO

The next single from Jamie Lidell’s upcoming album finds him looking up to funk kings Parliament compared to the previously released “Compass.” Spaced out and wacked out, Jamie let’s us know that he hasn’t toned down his soul and explodes in this new video. Definitely displaying a bit of his dual-personality in a fuzzed out split screen, Jamie goes wild on both sides. But according to the information provided:

The video, shot by Lindsey Rome in double vision through the barrel of a dusty camera’s sights finds Jamie returning to the songs birthplace, the beaches of Western Australia, to shout it out from the sands.

Joined by Chilly Gonzales and Dan Rossen (of Grizzly Bear), the track is reminiscent of the mad scientist experiments from Multiply.  Jamie’s new album Compass seems to be following suit.  The album will be released May 18, 2010 via Warp Records.

JAMIE LIDELL “Compass”

Jamie Lidell "Compass"The electro-soul bending wizard has returned with the quickness of lightning. With the help of his calvary (including Beck, Feist, Grizzly Bear Chris Taylor, James Gadson, Daniel Rossen and others) his alchemy of funk, soul, electro and holleration can be heard on this new track “Compass.”  Much like its predecessors, the soulful vibe have been retained and is accompanied by a deconstruction of old sounding vintage drum beats and hidden echoes of the future beneath it.  The lead single from his upcoming album of the same title shows no deviation from the master’s creative mind.

As a big fan of Jamie Lidell’s Multiply and Jim (and having major respect for Muddling Gears) I am quite curious to see where the rest of the album goes.  Will it be a culmination of all the directions he’s gone or will it continue the jam sessions from the previous two albums.  Just seeing the list of collaborators on this album let’s you know that it’s going to sound like an instant classic.

Compass is going to be released May 18th, 2009 on Warp Records.
