BURNING HEARTS “Into The Wilderness” (Silver Swans Remix) MP3

Burning Hearts

Two duos that are literally worlds apart. But they find their way together in this remix bringing the musical sensibilities and love for airy pop. The original by Burning Hearts was a shimmery track that recalled the Finnish landscapes. Bringing that world of fresh air and relaxing sounds of the waves crashing onto the shore. On the other side of the world, Silver Swans who hail from San Francisco, California also has a similar environment. The bay area and the beaches and sun. But the San Franciscan duo are slowly taking their world of dream pop into a more moody direction. In this remix, you clearly hear that. The keys, synths, percussion and chopped up vocals produce a dark and gloomy world. But that’s not say it’s not beautiful. In fact, the band likes their remix so much they have actually considered covering it live.

M83 “Midnight City” (Christian Strobe Remix) MP3

M83

Rain. Raining every second all day this Sunday in New York. I had tweeted that I wish I had a car and could drive through the city’s gloomy day and just look at all of the wonderful buildings, lights and people. And the score to the whole day would be M83’s “Midnight City.” The song is glorious, epic and at the same time had a mood that goes along with this rain. Well, I also suspected that a song like this must of course have remixes. And one of the first remixes by Christian Strobe doesn’t stray too far away from the original. The heavier beats and addition of prominent keys makes the track a bit more dancey. The song still goes along perfectly with this rainy night in the city.

SILVER SWANS "Let Me Know Now" (TWIN LAAM Remix) MP3

Silver Swans

Over the weekend, Silver Swans’ track “Let Me Know Now” was used during an episode of The L Word. Well, there must’ve been some people listening because other than the fact people have asked about who it is, west coast producer TWIN LAAM remixed it. He took the track’s moody sound and upped it up. It’s definitely an interesting take on the song. The revision makes it fun and not as dark.

CULTS "Go Outside" (Menahan Street Band Remix) MP3

Cults

The cool thing about indie pop songs these days is that I’ve seen and heard more and more of them remixed. Although I don’t consider Cults to be part of the “indie pop community,” their song “Go Outside” has brought them to stardom in the sense songs such as “Postcards From Italy” did for Beirut.

Now, their cult (haha, get it? Cult? haha…) hit “Go Outside” was previously remixed by Brainbheats which took their sugary pop single into a electronic realm. But this new Menahan Street Band remix keeps the song’s fun pop aspects and adds a more nostalgic element with the more sixties jangling guitars and organs much more prominent. It’s not to different from the original but adds just enough of a different vibe to make it more than fun enough to add to your collection.
