Stockholm, Sweden + Duo = For The Win! Well, most of the time. But Sweden’s Icona Pop follows the trend of duos out gunning the trios, quadruplets, quintuplets, sextuplets and so on. Maybe it makes producing great pop music much more cohesive. But with Patrick Berger who produced Robyn’s “Dancing On My Own” helped the duo produce a track so ramshackling in “Manners.” Floating around some time last year, the single jolts you with a hard beat and powerful chorus. A combination of an anthemic punk chorus and electronic blips and beats swirling the song postures the duo for strong debut full-length.
As a part of the Neon Gold Records collective, the duo is sure to make a splash here in the states. Their debut show will be this Thursday (March 3rd, 2011) at the Neon Gold Records PopShop in the Lower East Side. If names such as Passion Pit, Ellie Goulding, Monarchy and Penguin Prison sound familiar to you, well Icona Pop might as well be added to that list.
