If you haven’t heard of Oakland’s Wallpaper. by now – well, I don’t know what rock you’ve been hiding under. He has produced some of the most masterful remixes for the likes of Donwill, Passion Pit, Das Racist, Jay-Z, The Morning Benders and so on. On top of that his own album Doodoo Face has churned out some of the biggest and bounciest modern funk and bass singles you can dish out. From booming bass of “T-Rex” to”party anthem of “I Got Soul (I’m So Wasted)” song writing and production skills are on another level.
And today, he has unveiled another remix. This time around it’s for indie rockers Local Natives. Taking the long breathing tune and adding underlying hints of funk guitar and bass lines to it completely changes the vibe of the track. At times it almost sounds like an old Hall and Oates b-side with a with a dash of RnB. If one were to close their eyes you could clearly imagine a dark lit dance club, multi-colored lights swirling around a glaring disco ball. In this showcase of skill, Wallpaper. demonstrates that there is no genre that he can’t funktify.
So while you grace the beauty of his craftsmanship, check in here to get an update of his newest single “#STUPiDFACEDD“. It will be released December 9th, 2010. And from what I have gathered it’s going to be one hell of a party!
