Christina Aguilera

Ever since Christina announce her new album Bionic and then lead single “Not Myself Tonight” there has been a lot of talk about her “ripping off” Lady Gaga’s visual aesthetics and even sound. Christina’s gone through a slew of makeovers and “come backs.” And having been a huge fan since her first album my fandom has decreased with each album. Not to say her vocal talents have come down with each release, but I feel that she really hasn’t found “herself” just yet. And with her new music video for “Not Myself Tonight” she just may be admitting that.

With references to Madonna, George Michael, Britney Spears, Marylin Manson and etc. the song transitions sequence to sequence most likely paying tribute to the pop artists of the past and current that have put and imprint on her persona. The song itself is your typical electronic-bit track. It neither contains the giant highs that can churn a wave out of a crowd. But hopefully there are more surprises coming from her upcoming album being released June 8, 2010.

as far as sexual stimulation the video’s a champ, I love this stuff- but as for Xtina this indeed shows her insecurity as a performer and star, the visuals and makeup scream “I want to be gaga” and she will never have that magical asset that gaga possessed when she burst onto the music scene: a look and sound- no, a whole act that defied catagorization or comparison. Every artist aspires to that and dreads critical press good or bad that includes “**** meets *****” or “sounds like *****”. IIRC Xtina’s “genie in a bottle” debut was merely considered Tiffany with substance or pipes.
You know what’s lacking in Xtina’s new video? A good song! Her belting out the lines with authority is meaningless. She’s actually lacking restraint on her vocals at this time, I prefer how Gaga’s latest releases of Bad Romance and Alejandro each did not sound like Gaga when I first heard them, exposing her depth.
Xtina may be the superior singer and even has an edge in raw beauty but by reinventing herself with every release may never approach Gaga’s originality- and I bet Gaga isn’t even trying.

I like Christina Aguilera 50’s, 60’s R&B style now. Back To Basics is a fantastic CD. Especially Disk one. For some reason I love that style of music and look

Christina Aguilera is a really good singer. I was also born in December 1980 and wish I could have been born as her.
