VOXTROT Officially Breaking Up, Announce Final Tour

Voxtrot

It’s been a long time since we’ve heard from Voxtrot.  Ever since I heard them a few years ago through the single “The Start of Something” during my indie pop years I was salivating at the mouth.  The song was pop goodness.  Then two EPs afterwards and their self-titled full-length came out.  A few great songs from their singles, EPs and LPs.  But “The Start of Something” just had that sweet innocent charm that most songs at the time did not seem to have.  Even today, it’s hard to find a song  that sounds so true the form of pop.

Even though I began writing this thinking, what is it with “internet made” bands only being able to sustain themselves for only one album and if they’re lucky a sophomore album I believe Voxtrot are doing the right thing. Rather than forcing themselves to keep writing songs that just can’t be “Voxtrot” anymore they are moving on. They’ve left us with a handful of great songs. Mitch is in a band called International Waters. Jared has his solo project Sparrow House. Jennifer is still doing YellowFever. Jason has a hand called JC & Co. which also features Matt. Finally, Jason and Matt also play in The Black and Belaire. So there’s nothing to worry about. All of the members seem quite busy and are making music nonstop.

Voxtrot will be departing on their final tour real soon. I’ve never had the chance to see them live but hopefully I’ll be able to catch at Bowery Ballroom in New York.
