Another day another pop album from the Swedish duo Club 8. With the kind of music that the duo have been making I would have never thought of their music to be “remixable.” But with tracks from their previous album The Boy Who Couldn’t Stop Dreaming having been remixed and sounding perfectly fine, why not a new track from their upcoming album?
The lead track “Wester Hospitality” gets a taste of dub and a little bit of nu-gaze with treatment from Swedish label mates Pallers. Their afro-influenced pop become layered with gentle electro beats, an intergalactic vibe and a sense of smallness. Karolina’s vocals echoes as if dancing all alone in the stars. The song that once sounded like ancient tribes moving their feet in unison praying for rain becomes the enchanted Gods that are being prayed to.
