MATES OF STATE “Laura” (Girls Cover) MP3 + CRUSHES

Mates of State

I remember picking up My Solo Project in 2001 at a record store in Gainesville, Florida. “Indie Rock” was just on the rise but at the time Mates of State was slumped into the “Indie Pop” genre and world by my friends and I.  Not too long after I had the opportunity to see them live opening up for The Anniversary.  Since then indie pop and indie rock bands have come and gone and Mates of State have released a handful of memorable albums.  They all eNow announcing their next release Crushes (The Covers Mixtape), the duo in the tradition of doing fine covers such as “These Days” by Niko will have a whole album’s worth.  From indie pop (Belle & Sebastian), progressive metal (The Mars Volta) and classic rock (Fleetwood Mac), Mates of State will have their harmonious harmonies and keys all over these tracks.  Produced by Jason Hammel and Kori Gardner themselves, this album won’t even sound like a covers album that’s for sure.
