VELOUR Undress Your AlibisWith pop music from the west coast of the states to the British Isles or the abundance that are being exported from Sweden, no one ever thinks that just a few hours away some Danish boys are making some sweet pop themselves. With recognizable influences such as The Beatles, The Zombies, The Turtles, The Shangri-Las, The Byrds, The Lovin’ Spoonful, The Beach Boys and a slew of other 60’s pop giants, Velour take all of these influences and lay them on their 2nd album.

The whole album from start to end contain strong modern pop classics. The songs with their hooks and catches that won’t have us questioning their integrity. Songs like “Rain In The Summertime” and “Janey Black” take us back to those late 60’s early 70’s films that had the sun glazing through cheap sun glasses while driving through the beach. “Pam And The Important Man” gives a taste of that psych pop that surfaced during those classic eras. “If You Really Want Me” could’ve been a summer time hit if it was released back in the 60’s. Opening with lyrics “Girl you are the one I want, I could only dream of someone else” that are so quintessential of other timeless pop hits from the 60’s it could’ve been easily mistaken for one on AM radio. Then accompanied by thick hand claps and strings and female vocals joining the chorus in saying “If You Really Want Me”, makes it a stand out track.

Hopefully Velour will get their chance to break out here in the states. Their melodies are so sweet that they will definitely get kids stateside bopping up and down singing “Ba ba ba ba bup ba bup da da da!”
