The Another World is a video game being in collaboration by the genius folks at Studio Ghibli (Ponyo, Tales From Earth Sea, Spirited Away, Princess Mononoke, My Neighbor Totoro) and Level-5. Previously stated for the Nintendo DS release, the game will now have it’s own port for Sony’s PS3. Though the game mechanics have yet to be revealed, stills and a trailer from the actual game has been released. They all look majestic. In an age of first person shooters, button mashers and action games that have all scraped off each other it is refreshing (at least visually) to see something so stunning and unique in a video game. Just on visuals alone the game looks like a winner. Sure there is the Kingdom Hearts series and the upcoming Epic Mickey game on the horizon. But when was the last time were we captivated by an original storyfrom Disney?

If the video doesn’t spark your imagination, the oxygen in your brain must’ve been drained by all of those aliens you’ve been shooting at in “outer space.” All I can hope for is an interesting game with good game mechanics and we can all finally see through the perspective of Hayao Miyazaki.
