Ever since Christina announce her new album Bionic and then lead single “Not Myself Tonight” there has been a lot of talk about her “ripping off” Lady Gaga’s visual aesthetics and even sound. Christina’s gone through a slew of makeovers and “come backs.” And having been a huge fan since her first album my fandom has decreased with each album. Not to say her vocal talents have come down with each release, but I feel that she really hasn’t found “herself” just yet. And with her new music video for “Not Myself Tonight” she just may be admitting that.
With references to Madonna, George Michael, Britney Spears, Marylin Manson and etc. the song transitions sequence to sequence most likely paying tribute to the pop artists of the past and current that have put and imprint on her persona. The song itself is your typical electronic-bit track. It neither contains the giant highs that can churn a wave out of a crowd. But hopefully there are more surprises coming from her upcoming album being released June 8, 2010.
