The Queen of self-marketing and branding finally releases the supposed “epic” video for “Telephone” (featuring Beyonce and also starring Tyrese Gibson in the video itself). Injected with as much Gaga a video can possible hold, it didn’t seem as dark and morose as I expected it to be. Instead we’re smothered with sexual objectivity and product placements galore. Virgin Mobile, Diet Coke, Bebo, Polaroid, Wonder Bread and numerous vagina shots all take co-starring roles over a Thelma and Louise inspired music video. Oh yes, I guess you can also say Kill Bill’s Pussy Wagon.
Gaga’s dance moves need some help, but over all she’s still reigning as the Queen of self-promotion. All of the oddities she’s done and accusations of being transgendered are genius. I had never expected her to be as big as she was when I posted about her in the past. But she’s proven the public wrong and two years later is still going strong. Single after single keep her on top and it looks like now this video will too.
What’s next for Queen Gaga? Only she knows.
